A resonant grating mirror built from two sub-mirrors that reflect constructively into each other: a multilayer stack and a grating slab waveguide. Fabricated and measured, the device shows zero transmission at resonance with a line width below 1 nm, polarization selectivity and low loss, which qualifies it as a longitudinal-mode filter for a disk laser in the 1000–1100 nm range.
The paper compares the measured transmission with the theoretical curve computed for the measured grating parameters (period 559.1 nm, depth 17 nm): the resonance lands within 1 nm of the nominal design wavelength. It names both the modal method and the C method. Nikolay Lyndin, the author of MC Grating, is a co-author.
