Frequently asked questions

Short answers, each drawn from the product pages, the documentation or the changelog, with a link to the longer text.

Can I try MC Grating before buying?

Yes. Both installers, Full and Light, work in demo mode without a valid license key. Demo mode has only one restriction: it sets all refractive indexes multiple to 0.5. For this reason a material catalog can be used only as a reference and refractive indexes can not be set as a variable parameters in optimization procedure. After obtaining a valid license key the software works without this restriction. Download the current release.

What is the difference between the Full and the Light edition?

Full edition: no limits. Light edition is intended to calculate only diffraction efficiencies without additional options like: Analysis, Optimization, Fields, Resonances, Slider and Lamellar modes. Its price is four times lower than the price of the Full edition. Editions and prices.

Which code do I need for my grating?

The modal codes (True Modes Method and Fourier Modal Method, also known as RCWA) are best suited to gratings with a rectangular, lamellar profile, and handle other profiles by slicing them into layers; the Chandezon codes (C method, classic and extended) for smooth profiles such as sinusoidal corrugations. Within each family the collinear code handles incidence in the plane normal to the grooves, the conical code any incidence angle and polarization, and the crossed code multilayer 2D gratings. The six codes.

Is there an academic, student or volume price?

No. The price is the same for everyone. Two or more codes of one edition bought together carry a discount of 10% to 30%. The price list.
