Analytical scaling rules for a one-dimensional grating filter that reflects close to 100% of a focused beam in a narrow band while keeping a wide angular aperture, derived from a phenomenological coupled-wave representation of the slitted high-index slab. A design guide for the structures the modes-interference study examines numerically.
