# Pricing and licensing

MC Grating prices: six codes, each in a Full and a Light edition, from USD 150 to USD 1200 per license, the same price for everyone, with a discount for two or more codes. How licenses work and how to order by wire transfer.

Six codes, each in a Full and a Light edition, one price for everyone. Licenses are ordered by email and paid by wire transfer against an invoice.

## Prices

Price is shown for 1 license, in US dollars. You can buy Full or Light edition, but only one type of edition per one purchase. Buy 2 or more packages to get discount.

### Discount for several codes

The percent of discount depends on how many codes of one edition are bought together:

## One price for everyone

The price is the same for everyone: there is no academic, student, government or volume tier, and no quotation to request.

## Full and Light

**Full edition.** No limits.

**Light edition** is intended to calculate only diffraction efficiencies without additional options like: Analysis, Optimization, Fields, Resonances, Slider and Lamellar modes. Its price is four times lower than the price of the Full edition.

Each edition has its own installer. Either installer runs in [demo mode](https://mcgrating.com/products.html#demo) until a license key is installed: every feature of that edition works, with one restriction, refractive indices are multiples of 0.5. The license key lifts the restriction; nothing is reinstalled.

## License terms

- Please note that license for our software is locked to computer, on which it is installed on (in case of purchase you can receive licenses for 2 more computers for free by request at [mc@mcgrating.com](mailto:mc@mcgrating.com)).
- You can buy Full or Light edition, but only one type of edition per one purchase.
- **Purchased licenses are valid for 3 years since time of purchase. Licenses renewal for next 3 years will cost you 50% of initial purchase price.**
- Since versions of 2013, all MC Grating Software modules use new licensing technology. Users of old software licensing technology can simply receive new license key for free by writing us an email.

## How to order

You can purchase our software by wire transfer. Please contact us at [mc@mcgrating.com](mailto:mc@mcgrating.com) to obtain an invoice. In full:

1. **Choose the codes and the edition.** Any of the six codes, Full or Light, one edition per purchase; the table above gives the total.
2. **Find your Hardware ID** in the code you will run the license on: Help → About, then Copy. [What that looks like →](#hardware-id)
3. **Email [mc@mcgrating.com](mailto:mc@mcgrating.com?subject=MC%20Grating%20license)** with the codes, the edition, the Hardware ID and the name and address the invoice should carry.
4. **Receive the invoice** by email, with the wire-transfer details.
5. **Pay by wire transfer.** No card payments and no online checkout; the invoice states the amount in US dollars.
6. **Receive your license key** by email once the transfer has arrived, and install it in the code. The two additional licenses for other computers are requested the same way, with their Hardware IDs.

## The Hardware ID

You can find **Hardware ID** by going to **Help** → **About** menu of any MC Grating Software module. Just press **Copy** button, and your computer's **Hardware ID** will be copied into clipboard. Licenses are bound to the hardware, so a Hardware ID on its own is not sensitive and identifies no one; it is only what the key is generated for.
